The 3Scooter - everything you wanted to know!
Written by Frances Campbell

As we get closer to launch, we’ve had a wave of brilliant questions from early supporters — so we thought we’d share answers to the most common ones right here.
When it comes to mobility, confidence is everything. That’s why we’ve built the 3Scooter from the ground up to challenge assumptions about what a lightweight, stylish, and safe mobility aid can be.
The reality is the 3Scooter you see today is a prototype and can and may change before our launch, if we find better ways of doing things. But sign up to our newsletter list and we’ll make sure we keep you updated on any changes as soon as we can. Here's what we know so far!
How far can it go on a single charge?
Battery range will depend on terrain, rider weight, and driving style — just like any scooter — but we’re aiming for a competitive range. We’re also making it easy to remove, charge, and swap batteries, and we’ll offer spare batteries for those who want to go even further. We’ll be carrying out range trials later this year and we will share the results.
Does cold weather affect the battery?
All lithium-ion batteries perform slightly worse in the cold — that’s physics. But we’ve designed the 3Scooter so the battery can be removed and charged indoors overnight, and you’ll be able to carry a spare or upgrade to a higher-capacity option if needed.
What’s the maximum rider weight?
The current loaded weight capacity on the 3Scooter is 120kg. If you’re close to that or have specific concerns, let us know — we’d love to understand your needs better as we continue development.
How does it fold and store?
The seat can be removed and the 3Scooter can then be fully folded. It’s compact enough to fit in a standard hatchback car boot (yes, we’ve tested it in a Golf!). We’ll be releasing more images and videos of our fold in motion later this year.
What kind of terrain can it handle?
3Scooter is designed for urban use — hard surfaces, short grass, cobbles at low speed. It’s not built for sand or deep gravel just yet, but we’re exploring off-road options for the future.
We often say that if the 3Scooter was a shoe it would be a trainer: it’s designed for everyday comfort and practical use.
Can it go up hills?
Yes it can however we’re finalising our motor specification at the moment and so we cannot confirm the exact incline it can achieve just yet. We understand the importance of getting up hills (we're based in hilly Bristol!) and so we're determined to ensure it works particularly well.
How tight is the turning circle?
That’s the beauty of three wheels — it’s tight, nimble, and ideal for both indoor and outdoor use. It will fit easily through indoor doorways and makes navigating markets, cafes, shops and offices easy with its compact design.
Is it safe?
Yes — in fact, stability is our key innovation. Our patented EverLevel™ stabilisation system keeps you safe on cambers, curbs and uneven paths. You’ll also find automatic braking, a handbrake, optional lights, and a higher seating position for better visibility in crowds.
Is the seat comfortable?
We know how important seat comfort is. We worked with design agency Seymour Powell and our user community to develop a seat that looks sleek but feels supportive and comfortable. And it has been tested, tweaked, and tested again - in fact we have been through over 40 versions to get it right. For added comfort, we’ll offer seat padding options too. That said, we recognise the seat on this model won’t suit everyone. If you have concerns about the seat or any other part of the 3Scooter you can get in touch with us at hello@supersmith. co
What about accessories?
Accessories are important and will include space saving ideas for storage, places for bags and walking sticks, covers and more. The 3Scooter has been designed to conform to the standard sizes of bikes (eg handlebars), to make it easy to attach accessories that are already available.
How much does it cost?
The 3Scooter will retail at £2,995 — competitively priced for a product that folds, significantly reduces tipping risk, supports a seated position up to 90% of standing height and looks great. VAT relief is available for qualifying customers. We’ll be updating the shopping part of our website in the autumn to clearly display product features and price.
Can I pay monthly or lease one?
We’re exploring finance and leasing options and hope these will be available in the future. Let us know if this would help you.
What happens if it breaks down?
We’re designing the 3Scooter to be easily serviced and repaired, either at home or via local support. We will provide help to ensure your servicing needs are well catered for. It’s built to keep you moving safely, and replacement parts will be affordable and accessible.
Can I take it on public transport or a plane?
The 3Scooter has been designed to comply with bus and train regulation - but do check your local provider as rules vary. The folded dimensions allow for car boot storage. And a travel battery for air travel is planned but won’t be available when we launch. We’ll publish full travel guidance closer to launch.
Why haven’t you featured more disabled people in your marketing?
Our 3Scooter has been co-developed and tested with a wide range of disabled people. While our current photos use a prototype, we’re building a more inclusive library of stories and images. Want to help shape this? Get in touch at hello@supersmith.co
When can I get one?
We’re working hard to take the 3Scooter from prototype to production, with pre-orders opening in February 2026. We’re aiming for full release by Spring 2026. Want to be the first to know? Join our early access list here for monthly updates. Prices and further product details will be on the website from September.
